Well the rush is on. The Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) is currently accepting applications for the next examination which will be held on May 8, 1998. This examination is held twice a year, the second Friday in May and December, at locations across the country. The registration fee to sit for the examination is $75. For those individuals who have conditioned one section, the fee is $40 to take the remaining section. The registration deadline for the May exam is April 3, 1998.
The eight-hour exam test technical proficiency is financial accounting and compilation services (morning session), and managerial accounting, tax, business law and ethic (afternoon session). Individuals who pass both parts of the examination become Accredited in Accountancy and may use ACAT's registered designation, Accredited Business Accountant (ABA), where state law permits. Individuals maintain accreditation through compliance with ACAT's mandatory continuing professional education (CPE) requirements and adherence to ACAT's Code of Ethics.
ACAT's accountancy examination and credential is the voluntary public accountancy alternative to the certified public accountant examination and designation. For more information about the Accreditation Council, or to receive an accountancy exam packet, contact ACAT at 1010 N. Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314-1574. Phone (703) 549-2228, ext. 1341; Fax (703) 549-2984; E-mail: info@acatcredentials.org.
I want to take this opportunity to let you know of a NEW benefit for NSA members. NSA has negotiated a members only price for TValue, the industry standard in loan amortization and compound interest calculations. TValue will compute present value, future value, payment amount interest rate, or number of payments. TValue easily handles adjustable rates and changing compound periods. Irregular payments, balloon payments, and odd days are no problem. Plus, TValue prints professional amortization schedules that are perfect to give to clients or just to document your work.
Time Value Software has agreed to give you $50 off the normal retail price of $149. That means you can get TValue for only $99. Whether you order by phone or mail, be sure to ask for your member discount.
As you can see, the National Society of Accountants just keeps finding ways to enhance your practice. What more can you ask of a big brother who is constantly on the lookout for ways and means to help you grow. We need you to help us maintain our foundation, that can be accomplished only with membership maintenance and growth.
I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta this summer at our National Convention. A membership application follows on the next page and I encourage those of you who are not a member to join our Society.
