Effective July 1, 2008: The new mileage rate for July 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008 is as follows:

 

Business Mileage: .585 cents per mile

Medical Mileage:  .27   cents per mile

No change in Charitable it is still .14 cents per mile
 

The Family Medical Leave Act
 

The federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides job protection for employees who are absent from work for various reasons including if they are ill themselves or need to tend to certain ill family members.  Since the FMLA's passage some 15 years ago, many logistical issues about abiding by the law have been resolved by court cases and clarifying regulations from the US Department of Labor, which oversees enforcement of the act.  Details regarding FMLA may be obtained by visiting www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla.
